Mr. Robert Charles Orr

March 24, 1944 – November 1 2022

Robert passed away on November 1, 2022 at the age of 78 years old surrounded by his loving family. 

CD, RCAF (Ret.d) Capt. Robert Charles (Buddy) Orr was born in Saint John New Brunswick on March 24, 1944 to the late Robert and Gertrude (Campbell) Orr, grandparents Owen and Ella (Patterson) Campbell and grandparents Robert and Maime (Donovan) Orr. 

Robert was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force for over 33 years. Robert started his basic training as a supply technician in St Jean, Quebec, where he rose through the ranks. One of Robert’s many achievements was receiving his commission as a captain in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Robert met his loving wife Florence Kushniruk in Downsview, Ontario. The following years they were posted in western Canada,Newfoundland, Germany and San Antonio Texas. 

While living in Germany this gave them the opportunity to travel extensively sparking an interest to see more of the world. 

Robert married his loving and devoted wife Florence Kushniruk on March 23 1964. He is survived by their only child Robert Orr (Karen), and their  two grandchildren Robert and Jennifer. Also, two great grandchildren. Robert will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as all his friends he met throughout his travels. In addition he will be greatly missed by his special cousin Danny who he talked to daily. 

Upon retirement in 1994, Robert and Florence bought a house and made Calgary their permanent residence. In the summer Bob kept busy marshaling at many golf courses around Calgary. In the winter Bob spent many years volunteering with his love of hockey for the Calgary Mustangs Jr A men’s team of the  AJHL. For many years he also volunteered every Christmas to help provide his time and knowledge at the Mac’s AAA hockey tournament hosted at the Max Bell arena in Calgary. When not volunteering Bob and Flo spent most of the year traveling the world by cruise ship earning them elite status with Royal Caribbean. Robert was also very proud of his extensive work he did on the family’s genealogy. 

Robert is predeceased by his brother John (Jackie) Orr and his sister Margaret Willar.

Special thank you to Dr. Shergill, all the nurses, volunteers, and staff throughout Dulcina Hospice at St.Marguerite Manor for providing a warm and caring environment for Robert as this provided peace for the family during his final few days.
