It is with great sadness that the family of Geraldine “Gerry” Smoliak of Calgary, AB announce her passing at home peacefully surrounded by her children, niece and close friend after a long courageous battle with an end stage terminal illness on Tuesday July 16, 2024 at the age of 68 years.

Geraldine was born in Truro Nova Scotia on March 11, 1956 to Walter & Harriet (Sayers) White of Calgary, AB. Geraldine grew up in a large family with whom she adored very much. Geraldine’s father served in the army assigned to the Korean war, she was very proud of her father and proudly displayed his many medals. Geraldine’s smile could light up a room and the sound of her laughter was music to everyone’s ears, she was very kind and loving to those whom had the pleasure of knowing her. In Geraldine’s final months she enjoyed watching wrestling, playing computer games, visiting with her kids and family and marshmallow cookies. Geraldine’s children were the highlight of her life and always brought her great joy; she shared a strong bond with them right up until the end.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter Pamela (Derrick) of Calgary, AB, her son Robert (Cristale) of Calgary AB, her seven grandchildren Cassandra (James) of Saskatoon, SK, William of Kelowna, BC, Madison of Okotoks, AB, Austin of Calgary, AB, Dorion of Calgary, AB, and Aireanna of Calgary, AB, Robert Jess of Courtney, BC, also her four great grandchildren Benjamin of Okotoks, AB, Ryker of Saskatoon, AB, Kyra of Saskatoon, AB, and Kai of Calgary, AB, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, their families and friends.

Geraldine was predeceased by her mother Melvina Harriet (1980) of Calgary, AB, father Walter (1997) of Red Deer, AB,  as well as three sisters Beatrice (1946) of Ponoka, AB, Suzanne (1999) of Calgary, AB, Violet (1999) of Calgary, AB, and three brothers Claude “Nick” (1966) of Calgary, AB,  Phillip (1987) of Calgary, AB, Gerald (1989) of Calgary, AB, and Grandson Daniel (1994) of Calgary, AB.
