Mrs. Russelyn Jean Clark

Mrs. Russelyn Jean Clark

With great sadness, the family of Russelyn (Russie) Jean Clark announces that she passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024 at the age of 78.

Russie was born in Calgary, Alberta on August 31, 1945. As a proud Calgarian, she loved the city and could be found every July kicking up her heals at the Calgary Stampede. It was a rare year when she didn’t stake out her place on the parade route at 4 am opening day.

Russie was also a loving and dedicated mom. She raised three daughters on an acreage east of Airdrie and spent many years supporting the local farming community at Alberta Agriculture. Later, she dabbled in politics and worked for her local member of parliament.

In 2001 Russie married the love of her life, James (Jim) Clark. They cherished family and shared a love of country dancing. Together they enjoyed dancing up a storm, golfing, travelling, and retirement in Mesa, Arizona.

Russie had the most wonderful laugh and a witty sense of humour. She seldom missed a family gathering or coffee with her sisters. Russie’s grandkids meant the world to her, and they will fondly remember her as “sweet Granny”.

Russie is survived by her husband Jim; three daughters Raelyn Anderson, Jolene (Robert) Purcell, Leah (Allan) Henderson, and stepson Nathan (Kathleen) Clark; five grandchildren Paige and Robert (Robbie) Purcell, Ethan Henderson, and Emily and Claira Clark; along with a close-knit group of sisters, brothers and their families. Russie is predeceased by her parents and two brothers.
