Myrna Darlene Fraser. On the evening of January 15, 2020, Myrna was comforted by family and friends at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary when she passed away peacefully of natural causes. She was 80 years old. Myrna was predeceased by her loving husband William (Bill) and is survived by her sons, David (Kimberley) and Christopher (Sheila), her grandchildren Keegan, Kylin, Calleigh and Connor, siblings Ross, Donna and Lynda as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Myrna was born to Hensley (Bud) and Nora and grew up in a tight knit family, spending a great deal of time with her cousins, often going on family vacations together. An excellent student, Myrna received various scholarships and was the Valedictorian of the General Hospital’s Nursing Class of 1961. The next year she completed her BSc and went on to teach nursing. In 1962 Myrna and Bill were married and started a family in 1968 with the birth of David, followed by Christopher in 1971. Having put her career on hold to raise her family, Myrna went back to work, joining the University of Calgary’s Family Therapy Program where she worked for 38 years. Myrna enjoyed traveling, was an avid gardener and a voracious reader. She built strong relationships with countless people and was known for her intellect, kindness, compassion and sense of humour. Later in life Myrna developed Parkinson’s disease which she dealt with courageously for over 2 decades. As the disease progressed, she was forced to move out of the family home, most recently living in Village Manor, the staff of which the family would like to thank for the wonderful care they provided.
