It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Parshotam Dass Bhardwaj on February 7, 2025 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 85 years. Parshotam was born on January 1, 1940 in Nurpur, Punjab, India. Parshotam was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother – but above all, he was a loyal friend.
Parshotam is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Maya, his children; Usha (Swaraj), Amarjit (Kamaljit), and Naresh (Sonu), his grandchildren; Karan (Jyoti), Ketan, Kunal, Rajni, Gautam, Arjun, and Anika, his great granddaughter; Sia, his brothers; Jagdish (Usha), Amrit (Anu). Parshotam was predeceased by his parents Devi Dayal and Laj Wanti, and his siblings Uma, Krishna, and Krishan.
Parshotam immigrated to Canada in 1971 and spent most of his career working in the coalmines in Sparwood, BC. After retirement he settled permanently in Calgary where he enjoyed spending time with his extended family and making new friends. He was heavily involved in community building activities with various groups including the North Calgary Cultural Association (of which he was a founding member).
Parshotam will be missed by all who knew him, friends and family will remember him for his selflessness in the service of others.
