November 4, 1940 – January 27, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Porfirio Mapanao announce his passing on January 27, 2025 at the age of 84 years.

Porfirio Mapanao was born on November 4, 1940 in Aringay, La Union, Philippines to Segundo and Genoveva Mapanao.

During his lifetime, Porfirio was multifaceted in the ways that he gave back to his community. He worked as an investigator for the Philippine Police, security officer, a massage therapist, and was even an experienced tailor. A devoted, loving father and grandfather, Porfirio, above all, most enjoyed spending quality time surrounded by his loved ones.

In 1961, Porfirio married Patricia Mapanao (née Calderon) with whom he went on to have seven children; his five sons Bernard, Carlo, Francis, Aaron, Renato, and daughters Christine and Marie-Jean. He shared many years of love with Patricia until her early passing in 1978. In 2004, at the age of 64 years, Porfirio immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to be with his daughter Marie-Jean and family. Ever a man wholely dedicated to his family , Porfirio worked to continue supporting his family back home in the Philippines. It is here in Canada that he met Brigida (née Manuel). They  married in 2009. Together, Porfirio and Brigida lovingly spent their days taking long walks, listening to their favorite songs, and singing Karaoke.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Mapanao, his father Segundo Mapanao, his mother Genoveva Mapanao, and eldest son Bernard Mapanao.

Porfirio is survived by his wife Brigida Mapanao, his sister Nonita Vichitpahanakarn, his six children, many grandchildren, and even more great-grandchildren.

Porfirio now rests in peace and love with our Heavenly Father. May we find comfort knowing that Porfirio's spirit lives on in our memories, and in the everlasting love we hold for him in our hearts.
