Roberto Garcia Del GALLEGO

It is with a broken heart, that the family of Roberto “Bert” del Gallego wish to announce his passing on December 7th 2020. Having received the final sacraments, he went home to our Lord peacefully and most certainly to a joyful reunion with all his family and friends who preceded him.

Bert leaves behind his wife Margarita Lalana del Gallego, his four daughters whom he cherished: Tana, Rocio, Crissy and Rebecca; his sons in law, Erik, Rick and Will and his beloved grandsons, Markus, Jaelani, Isaac, Jakob and Charlie; his sister, Cora “Daggy”; his sister-in-law, Annie; his many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and family and friends of whom he had many, all loved and treasured.

Born in 1937 to Juan Manuel & Juanita, he was the second child among four siblings. He grew up in Manila spending his summers in Camarines Sur, Del Gallego and attended University of Santo Tomas. In 1975 through mutual friends, he met and married the love of his wife, Margie. He migrated to Canada with his family in 1990 settling in BC and moved to Alberta in 2008 to be close to his daughters who married and settled in Calgary.

His is a legacy of perseverance, loyalty and patience. Bert was a devout Catholic who prayed diligently for others and lived a life of deep and abiding faith, especially during times of struggle and pain. He had a great sense of humour, loved a good scotch, was a true foodie, played competitive bowling and won, and enjoyed a rousing round of mahjong.

His greatest gift to his family was unconditional love. Please pray for his soul, and for his grieving family. He will be painfully missed.

Rest in the arms of Our Blessed Mother, dear husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
