Rohit Kasbekar

Everyone who met Rohit left the interaction a better person. A wonderful human being who had a massive impact on all his friends and family. A kind, caring and gentle soul who made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. He always gave more than he took. He genuinely cared about people, was kind and big-hearted, ever ready to help with a smile. Rohit always underplayed his significant achievements whilst taking tremendous pleasure in praising others. We are all grateful to have him in our lives.

Rohit’s presence will be sorely missed, more than he would ever have imagined or known.
A huge, huge loss and one that’s not proving easy to bear, reconcile, understand or accept.
Heartbroken. Utterly heartbroken.
Rest in peace, Om Shanti.
Rohit is a great Soul, a wonderful father, and a Husband. He is loved by all. It is very sad that he is gone from this world so soon. May God Bless him and give his family the courage to get through this difficult time
Rohit uncle, who was truly like family to me, is someone I will always hold dear to me. His kind nature, encouraging words and witty humor have left a profound mark on me. Through his close friendship with my dad or while raising his own daughter, it was clear how much Rohit uncle made everyone around him feel loved. I will always be grateful to have had him in my life and to have called him my dear uncle.
We have known Rohit for quite a few years now through our temple visits. We then provided our services together there as well. During that time, we got to know his family better. He was extremely polite and respectful to everyone around him. Have noticed him being patient many times and always keeping his cool. Will miss him and his smiling face. Hope he is in a better place and we pray God to give Roopa, Arya and all his family members the strength to overcome this huge loss.
Rohit, you will be missed by all. I remember how you helped me when we had a little intruder in the house. Thanks for your kindness. Sadgati and Om Shanti
I was one of Rohit’s co-workers. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Rohit was always smiling and he always helped and cared for others. Everyone that has had the pleasure of working with Rohit loves and respects him.
Rohit is a very gentle and loving person. I had the opportunity to work with him closely in the temple. He was such a professional person and helped me immensely in accounting and presentation of the treasurer statement . Ever since 2014 I know him and associated with him all these years. Rohit will be very dearly missed by both Dev and me . With great sense of sadness we bid farewell to him. Hope Baba keeps him close to His heart. My condolences to Roopa, Arya, Revathy and Roopa’s Dad.
Rohit, I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He was a true gentleman, kind-hearted and always full of respect. His dedication to his family and those around him was truly inspiring. My team and I will miss his thoughtful calls and invaluable insight. He leaves us with warm hearts and cherished memories that will not be forgotten.
Rohit has known us for long time in calgary helping us personally as well as a non profit organization for the past 8 years as a donor and volunteer for a great cause. He had a very smart understanding of the nuances of running a non-profit organization and was part of its development and growth. He had a great friendly personality and understood people by maintaining good relationship with all the people who came across. A gentleman to the core and ever ready to help anyone who wanted his counsel and friendship. It is great loss not to have his physical presence in society now , as he is with his creator now in the astral world free from the ailment he was suffering in this physical world. We miss a very dear friend , team member and our heart goes out to his beloved family for this great loss they have to overcome. May God Bless his family and bless his soul to rest in peace at his lotus feet. Good people attain God early in life which is some kind of a consolation . 🙏
Rohit you were one of the nicest people I ever met. It was my pleasure and privilege to work with you here at Ovintiv. You were kind, gentle, always caring of others before yourself, and so, so smart! Loved our chats on the train home, and hearing how proud you were of your family, but especially Aarya. Our group event this Friday will feel a little smaller, and our joy a little dimmer, but you will never be forgotten.
God Bless Roopa, Aarya and all the family.

We were lucky to be friends with Rohit in this lifetime. A kind gentleman in his thoughts and deeds, a wise counsellor when we wanted to bounce off an idea with him, a dear brother to me when he indulged me with all my favourite treats when I visited Calgary, a jolly good fellow when we found some common situation funny….he was all this and more! Anand and I will miss you terribly Rohit, but we know that you would rather have us take good care of your dear Aarya and Roopa than wallow in sorrow. Rest in peace dear friend!
I was a coworker with Rohit at Encana. Such sad news. He was such a kind, caring and down to earth man. He will be greatly missed. So sorry for your loss.
Meetings are destined and some leave an everlasting feeling! Have been a part of the Bajekal family for over 4 decades and have watched Roopa grow since she was a child but why the Calgary visit only last year, I now understand. I met Rohit for the first time only last year for just 2 days. But the meeting left a deja vu feeling. Such a beautiful understated but reassuring presence. Some great interaction gave me glimpses of his incisive parenting of Arya. His love and care for Roopa, Revatikaki and Ratankaka just touched me beyond what words can express. Our conversations swung from Canadian history, Calgary the city, its architecture , his office tour, astronomical data of the Calgary sky through Arya’s telescope. So much in just 2 days! That was Rohit for me!
I am not sure words can console the loss of a loved one, but sincerely pray that Roopa and Aarya cope with his loss. May he rest in peace. Gone too soon.
The world has lost a beautiful soul! Om Shanti.
The news of Rohit’s illness came as a shock…a man who didn’t deserve even a simple headache.
He was in all our lives, a gentle, caring, giving presence with so much love and respect for everyone. There is a lot to learn from this true “gentle”man…how to live a good life, how to love and find happiness in simple things.
Dear, dear Rohit, you’ve left this world but will never ever be forgotten. Grateful and happy to have known you and learnt from you. I love you lots and will continue to.
I pray for Roopa, Aarya and my dear aunt and uncle – to whom he was another son – to find the strength to get through this period and come out of it with precious, happy memories.
It was so heartbreaking to hear the news of Rohit’s illness and passing.
He was a gentleman to the core, always kind, thoughtful and helpful.
He was a wonderful dad to Arya and a loving husband to Roopa. But he was so much more than that… a loving son to Revati kaki and Ratan kaka and a caring brother/in-law to all of us.
Rohit will continue to live in our thoughts … a star that will always shine bright.
Rohit was more than a neighbor to us, he was family. Since we moved here in 2016, Rohit, Roopa, and Aarya welcomed us with open hearts. They were always there for us, supportive and caring in every way.
Rohit had the biggest heart. He loved all the kids in the neighborhood and treated our children like his own. He would take them for Slurpees and never missed bringing Aarya over every Halloween to drop off candy at our house. My kids adored him and will miss him so much.
He was such a kind and thoughtful person, always grateful for even the smallest things. No matter how busy he was, he never missed waving hello, always smiling and spreading positive energy. Just seeing him and Roopa made our days brighter.
We feel so lucky to have known Rohit and will forever cherish the beautiful memories we shared. His kindness, warmth, and love will stay with us always.
With love and deepest sympathy,
Nevin and family
Dear Rohit Dada,
I clearly remember the first time Amma, Appa and Abhi told me about you in one of their letters to me when I was in RV. They were gushing about how cool and lovely you were. So when I finally met you after a few months, I fully understood what they were talking about. ..you were indeed effortlessly cool and wonderful. We may not have interacted much over the years, because by the time I finished with RV, you had moved to Canada. But I will forever cherish those moments I had with you. Rest in peace.
You are more than a neighbour you are a friend and you are the best and kindest neighbour. I will miss you. Me and Adam will take care of Aarya.

Dear Roopa and Family, We extend our deepest condolences during this difficult time. There are no words that can truly bring comfort right now, but please know that our thoughts are with you and we are here for support. Having known Rohit and Roopa as neighbors since 2011, we have countless cherished memories. We will always remember Rohit for his sense of humor, his kind heart, and his helpful nature. Om Shanti! Roshan, Azim, Alnar, Ashir & Adeem
We couldn’t fathom Rohit passing away. May his soul rest in peace. May God give Roopa, Aarya and family the strength to bear the loss. Sending our deepest condolences for your loss. We hope time brings you peace and you’re surrounded and lifted up by the ones you love most.
Rohit and I were close friends since school days back in India. I have so many warm memories of Rohit from those carefree days. Through the years and decades that passed we always kept in touch every few months, even though we were countries apart (I have been based in the US)….it was so important to us both to be in touch with old friends, to keep those memories alive and to connect on a common thinking plane. He was a thoughtful and kind person with a great sense of humor…one always had a smile after talking to him. I will miss him dearly but know he is in a place of peace. Sincere condolences to Roopa, Aarya and Kunal & the family
I had the pleasure of working with Rohit for many years. Rohit’s positive attitude and can-do mentality always shone through. But what I will remember most is Rohit’s pride in his family. RIP Rohit, you will be deeply missed by all who knew you.
Our heartfelt condolences to the Kasbekar and Bajekal families on the very sad passing away of dear Rohit. Our sincere thoughts are with Roopa and Aarya and we extend our moral support to them to be able to bear this tragic loss and have the fortitude to overcome grief. Yours in sympathy and may his soul rest in eternal peace.

Sending our deepest condolences for the loss of a loving husband, father, and friend to so many. Rohit was a wonderful man and a beautiful soul.
I will always remember his smile and the joy he radiated when sharing pictures of his family and the adventures they had together. He was incredibly proud of Aarya and Roopa and loved them both so deeply. From the adventures of learning to ride a bike to the laughter over the grade 3 spelling bee he challenged me to attempt (and fail) after Aarya took first place, his smile said it all.
I will forever cherish the laughter we shared, the memories we created, and the wisdom he imparted over the past 20 years. Rohit will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Thank you, Rohit, for everything.
With heartfelt sympathy,

Some 15 years ago when we had planned to move from Toronto to Calgary, Rohit was the first person I had spoken to in Calgary. His input was valuable in the outcome that resulted in our move here and the subsequent life decisions thereafter. The first friends we got to meet in this new unknown city were Rohit and Roopa. We still remember that first visit and the great chat we had. Memories over the years remain and will be cherished forever. We pray you are at rest and peace forever.
Rohit’s untimely departure has left an unfillable void in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Rohit was more than just a dear friend to us; he was a shining example of kindness, compassion, respect and generosity. His genuine, caring, and loving nature touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
As a devoted family man, Rohit was a loving husband to Roopa, a dedicated father to Aarya, and a cherished son-in-law to Amma and Baba. He was also an affectionate brother to Kunal and brother-in-law to Rahul.
We will deeply miss Rohit’s bright smile, his sense of humour, his intelligent talks and above all his unwavering optimism. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will continue to inspire us to live with the same kindness, empathy, and love that he embodied.
As we bid our final farewell to our dear friend we take comfort in knowing that he is now in a better place, free from suffering and pain.
Rest in peace, dear Rohit. Your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
Our deepest sympathies to Roopa, Aarya, Amma, Baba, Kunal, Rahul, and the entire family. We are always there with you….
Deeply saddened to lose the family gem. May dear Rohit rest in ever lasting peace & bless all those who will forever miss him.

In Loving Memory of a Dear Friend
Saying goodbye feels unbearable. Together, a bunch of us embraced the magic of Rock Music, Michael Jackson, and countless joyful moments at the New Palasia House in Indore — Ellis’s amazing cooking and Aayi’s, Usha & Sushma Autnty’s warmth making it all the more special.
Gone too soon, my dear friend. You brought so much light into our lives, and your absence leaves an irreplaceable void. Rest in peace—you will always be remembered and deeply missed.
Our heartfelt condolences & wishes to the family to gather strength at this difficult hour of loss.
May his Beautiful Soul Rest in Eternal Peace my dear friend Rohit.

We are deeply saddened to hear about this news. Rohit was a very gentle and a kind hearted person. His calm and friendly demeanour made everyone comfortable around him. He will always be remembered as a polite, humble and friendly person . He was liked by everyone who came in contact with him. May his soul rest in peace. God bless Roopa, Aarya, and his family! Om Shanti!
My knowing Rohit dates back to 1996. Both Roopa and I met Rohit at a Cafe in Bangaluru. That one meeting was enough for me to tell what a wonderful person Rohit was. Roopa instantly decided to make him a partner for life. Such was the impact Rohit had .
Rohit demonstrated thru and thru what a loving husband , a doating father ,a caring son , a giving friend he was.
Each of my interactions with Rohit have left me with warmth and a good feeling.
You will always be remember and missed for what you gave to any relationship.
Rest in peace dear Rohit.
I am very saddened to know that Rohit is not with us now. God takes away all those people who are sweet, kind and loving. Rohit was such an adorable person, always smiling and welcoming. An adorable father and husband. A caring son in law and a loving person.
Prayers for his soul to be happy and to be at peace🙏🙏
Maybe not related by blood, but he has always been more than a family to us. From watching him grow and evolve into a compassionate , kind and a beautiful soul, to reaching that stage where he is no longer with us, it deeply saddens us beyond words. Whether it be my career, my health, my personal indulgements, you have always been there for me, supporting me, encouraging me to never give up. Your absence will always be felt. We will always be there with Roopa Vahini and Aarya. Love you Rohit Dada.
Anyone who met Rohit dada was immediately enriched by the experience. People with his particular combination of qualities – soft-spoken yet highly articulate, quick-witted yet endlessly kind, deeply intelligent, thoughtful, humble, humane, gracious, fully attentive to whoever he was with at any given time – are extremely rare. Like Roopa akku, he is a wonderful role model for his daughter Aarya; but he is also a role model to us all. We will never forget the times we shared with him in Calgary and elsewhere, warm memories that will remain with us always. He was truly one of a kind, and will be missed more than words can say.
Rohit’s jolly smile, intelligent conversations and positive aura will be missed around the office. Whenever we had a conversation, I always learnt something new! God’s richest blessings and my condolences to your family.
Rohit was a kind, intelligent, and soft-spoken soul who took a genuine interest in the lives of those around him. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his entire family during this most difficult of times. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
I had the pleasure of knowing Rohit through work here at Ovintiv for the past 15 years. He was always a personable and easy going person that you could rely on for help. Rohit had an amazing sense of humor and I will miss his laugh and the enjoyable banter we would have. He had a lasting impact on a lot of us here at the office and he will always be remembered
Rohit will forever live in our hearts…his gentle, loving and responsible demeanor, his warm smile and huge heart, his quiet resilient nature….are unforgettable. Always putting others before self ,Rohit was the perfect husband, father, brother and son. To Ratanmam and Revatimami he was a second son and to all of us a gem in the family. We all love you dear Rohit and hope you are smiling from wherever you are
Dear Rohit,
We are lucky to have known you. Behind your kind, gentle and modest demeanour beat a strong, loving, generous heart and a shining, empathetic intelligence. It’s no surprise that you made a success of family life, work life and life within the community. Among your many admirable qualities, it was quite something to behold the forbearance and fortitude with which you faced the cruel hand that life dealt you. While you are gone from the world around us, you will remain forever in the world within us. We treasure the memories we made with you; your voice still echoes in our ears as we recall the happy times you made possible. Rest in peace, you dear, dear man.
It is hard to imagine a world without Rohit. He was the kindest most thoughtful person I have ever met. I was so lucky to have had the privilege of working with him. He will be missed..
Rohit and I go back to the early days at Daly College. Most of my memories are of junior school and remember us fending off the crows during break time or rushing back to class for the next period and covering for each other. I do feel a bit sad not having connected for while but he was and will always be in my thoughts and prayers. A golden soul that departed a bit too early but am sure he is in peace where he is.
Our condolences to Roopa, Aarya and Kunal & the family
My sincere condolences to the family. Rohit dada will always be missed. You left us too soon. May God bless your beautiful divine soul.
My most sincere condolences to Roopa, Aarya, family and friends. Rohit will be deeply missed; I am grateful to have worked with Rohit over the past several years. His calm demeanor, his passion for solving issues, and his respectful approach in all things were telling of his character. His kindness was his hallmark. Rohit’s positive impact on all of us will remain steadfast.
The last time I met Rohit Dada was about seven years ago, but really, my memories of him stretch back three decades, just before he got married to Roopa Akka. He was the coolest person around. As kids, we would try to emulate his style, his mannerisms, the way he engaged people with a smile and a kind word. I remember he used to endear himself to everyone he passed, calling people ‘Boss’ or ‘Champ’. He seemed to know everything about everything. Every time he came home, he brought with him a gift: an encyclopaedia, a toy, ice cream. He would take us to the cinema or a restaurant of our choice. He exuded kindness and generosity. He was quick-witted and as this remarkable list of condolences suggests, touched many hearts with his warmth. The moments we got to share with Rohit dada will stay with us always.
I had the pleasure of working with Rohit at Ovintiv and marveled at his unique combination of fierce intelligence and gentle spirit. He was a kind, warm hearted man who will be missed by all those who knew him. My sincere condolences.

Rohit dada’s passing has been a shock that I am still struggling to come to terms with. While I can’t say I knew him perhaps as closely as some of his friends or family, since he was 6-7 years older than us, I knew him well enough. Growing up just a few hundred meters from his house and being close friends with Kunal, I practically lived at their home. Given the elder brotherly figure he was, he was unlike most older siblings – always kind and warm.
When I first heard about his illness, it came as a complete shock. It’s hard to accept that someone as kind-hearted and good as him could be struck by such a rare and cruel disease. But that’s the way life is — unpredictable and often unfair. It still doesn’t feel real, and even writing these words feels surreal.
Rohit dada – You may be gone and too soon at that, but you’ll never be forgotten. My lasting memory will always be attending your wedding lunch in Mumbai – arriving just in time to scrape the leftovers since I got there after everyone had eaten. But you and Usha aunty made sure I didn’t go hungry!
Robot was my son’s friend and used to come to our house to meet him. I happened to go to Oman when we were considering moving there. My son immediately told me to contact Rohit if I needed help and of course I did. Rohit and Roopa came over in the morning and spent the whole day showing me around and guiding me about different aspects of life there, all with genuine interest and desire to help me!
May peace be with the family. Our prayers and best wishes are always with you.
Dear Roopa and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Rohit’s passing. “A kind, caring and gentle soul”, there are no better words to describe him. Rohit was highly respected by all who had the privilege of working with him. His compassion, professional and smile will leave a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends. He always spoke with such pride of his family, his children.
He will be greatly missed.
Please know that our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

I worked with Rohit at Ovintiv. I spent a lot of time with him as he was a key witness on one of our arbitration matters. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him as he was so hard working and incredibly talented. Most of all, I will remember his kind and gentle nature. Rohit will be missed. My condolences to his family.
Rohit will be sadly missed by all of his Ovintiv friends. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. I worked closely with Rohit for many years and he was truly remarkable. I’ve rarely met someone who knew his work more thoroughly than Rohit. I cherished his advice and counsel often. I will miss my friend.
Best, Brendan McCracken
I’m deeply saddened to hear of Rohit’s passing. Having had the privilege of working alongside Rohit for my entire career, and enjoying many joint accomplishments, I can say without a doubt that Rohit greatly improved the lives of those around him. RIP Rohit – I hope we meet again.
I was deeply saddened to hear about Rohit’s passing. I had the good fortune of working with Rohit for many years.
Rohit was more than just a leader; he was a kind and generous teammate who was an inspiration to us all. He led by example, always putting others before himself and celebrating the successes of those around him.
But it was the pride and love that he had for his family that will always stand out for me. He always had the biggest smile as he shared stories of Aarya and Roopa.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, May you find comfort in the cherished memories of Rohit and in the knowledge that his legacy of kindness, integrity, and dedication will live on in all of us.
I was fortunate to work with Rohit and he very quickly became one of my favourite people at Ovintiv. He made every file a pleasure, even when issues were contentious. This was because he was usually right! He was smart, detail oriented, diligent, but more importantly, he was a kind, gentle soul who made everyone around him feel like they were important and that we would solve problems as a team. Rohit was also funny and quick-witted and always knew how to lighten the mood. I will miss him and am grateful to have known him for the time that I did. Sending my deepest condolences to his family.
Dear Rohit, This was really shocking & untimely that you left us so early in life. Remembering the sweet memories with you as a child in Indore & then your youth in Pune. It was wonderful having long chats with you recently & you were so calm & cheerful. It takes lots of courage & inner strength to take this in your stride. Roopa & Arya, we’re always there for you & don’t hesitate to reach out to us for whatsoever that you require. We share this sorrow with you & will always cherish Rohit’s memories forever. May almighty give you strength to bear this colossal loss . Om Shanti 🙏🏻

We will always cherish the time spent with Rohit Dada during his visits to our residence in Mumbai just after Rohit Dada completed his Engineering from Bharti Vidyapeth, Pune. Always smiling and charming. He left a long lasting impression on us since he was extremely caring and went out of his way to always keep in touch with his extended family (Elis) who were taking care of Suhas Kaka & Usha Kaki . We will miss him dearly. Our deepest condolences to Kasbekar & Bajekal family. Om Shanti
I had the honor of working with Rohit at Ovintiv over the last 15 years. He was undoubtedly one of the smartest and hardest working people I’ve worked with. He was always willing to help anyone out and had a positive impact of everyone he interacted with.
I’ve never seen him smile so big as when he was showing me videos on his phone of Aarya at her spelling bees.
Rohit will be greatly missed.

Hearing about the loss of Rohit was heartbreaking, and I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with and get to know him over many years. He was such a kind soul with a caring heart, always finding joy in seeing others succeed. Rohit was incredibly encouraging, and he had an innate ability to put one’s mind at ease if he sensed any uncertainties.
Rohit was an outstanding individual, well-respected, and cared for by so many. His presence was a beacon of positivity, and his impact on our lives will be felt for a long time to come. I will forever cherish the memories I have of working with him and will strive to embody the amazing qualities he taught us all.
The world has lost an incredible person. On behalf of myself and my team—Tracy, Andria, Amy, Bonny, Desiree, and Lynne—we send our deepest sympathies to his family.
May his legacy of kindness and inspiration continue to guide us all.
Dear dear Rohit,
Will miss you.
Just as much as your small wonder is…
Appa
My sincere condolences to family. I am grateful and honored I was able to get to know Rohit for many years. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met. Rest in peace my Friend!
Our ever smiling Rohit, I have watched you grow from a child, to a teenager and finally a man.. quett and gentle, full of compassion.. You made your dear grandparents and parents so proud. Always up in arms for your little brother. We were neighbours at Bicholi and shared some good times together.
Now you are peace with all who have gone before you. Bonds can never be broken. Life is eternal . Till me meet again.
May your soul rest in peace. Love to Roopa and Arya and your grieving family and friends.

Rohit was such a kind, intelligent, and thoughtful man. I have had the pleasure of working with him off and on over the years and thoroughly enjoyed every interaction. It is a tragedy that such a wonderful person is no longer with us. I will take some solace in knowing that our lives were better for having had him in it, even only for a moment.
I am a once removed cousin of Rohit. I had seen him as a kid in India, and then after several decades in Calgary at his home with his father, my cousin, Suhas, Roopa and Arya. We had lot of fun together, long drives into Canadian Rockies chatting, reminiscing old times. Remember Arya’s dances and singing. Lovely memories. It is always difficult to lose someone younger, especially from the next generation, with so much promise and a lovely family. My heartfelt condolences to Roopa and Arya.
Occasionally, life grants us the good fortune to cross paths with truly authentic and unpretentious individuals. Rohit was one of these rare types. Within months of meeting Rohit, Roopa and Aarya, I knew I was blessed with family. He loved his two girls immensely! Rohit exemplified what it means to genuinely care for others above self. His concern for the well-being of others went beyond family. He simply had a “big heart” that always seemed to have room for one more person, one more task. Rohit consistently displayed strength of character and wisdom that made conversations a life lesson. His joy was contagious, and his smiles were heartwarming. Irrespective of the challenges, Rohit’s calm, reassuring disposition made getting through them so much better. He was genuinely humble and never wanted accolades for anything he did. I am forever grateful that our paths crossed and will miss him terribly and remember him fondly. Roopa, Aarya, Amma and Baba, we will continue the journey together.
It is heartbreaking to hear of Rohit’s passing and know that such a kind and genuine person was taken far too soon. I worked with Rohit at Ovintiv and while our paths didn’t cross often (aside from in the elevator), he always said hello and struck up a conversation or offered a big smile that brightened anyone’s day. A true gem of a human being and I’m so sorry for your loss.
We are deeply shocked with the loss of our close family friend Late. Rohit Kasbekar. His loss is not only to his
close family members Roopa and daughter including his extended family members but also to the SHCS community members at large. We do remember his kind and caring nature along with his personal contribution to SHCS temple community offering his volunteer skills, astitute guidance in complex accounting requirements to support charity showing enthusiasm for people’s good… Hence I will recognize this kind soul in the golden memoirs of community service for Calgarians! We hereby offer our deep condolences to his family and prey for his peaceful journey into Vaikuntha Vaas! Om Shanti 🙏🏾
Rohit’s passing away has left a big void He will always be missed & remembered May he get Sadgati Rest in peace

My deepest condolences to the family. I was deeply saddened to hear the news of his passing. I had the absolute privilege of working with Rohit at Ovintiv. I respected his sharp intelligence but most of all, I remember his kindness and peace he would bring to any room. It was such a joy to see his smile in the halls and he always made time to stop and chat. He was always filled with joy speaking about his family. He will be deeply missed by all. The world was a better place with such a wise and kind soul like Rohit. RIP.
I have had the honor and privilege of working closely with Rohit for many years at Encana/Ovintiv. He was not only my leader but also a mentor, a friend, a great human being, and above all, a beautiful soul. He will be dearly missed, especially his uncanny ability to send an email and appear in your office just as you heard the ping. His joyous personality and radiant smile will be missed in the hallways of the Bow. He always took the time to stay and have meaningful conversations. I will miss him dearly. Rest peacefully, my dear friend.
Every time we met, we did feel that Rohit was a good, gentle and kind person. It is unfortunate that we met him fewer times than we would have liked to.
Wonder why God takes away Good People early!
Heartfelt Condolences to the Kasbekars and Bajekals

Rohit Kasbekar (or Cassy as we called him) was my roommate for 3.5 of the 4 years at our Engineering college BVCOEP in Pune, India and we were very close almost like brothers. Most of my memories of Engineering college revolve largely around him. Therefore the fact that he is no more and I will never be able to hear his voice again is yet to sink in even a week later. I can only imagine what his family is going through
He was a great character – outgoing, sharp, sincere, hardworking, empathetic and a true friend to everyone – in short a great human being who left an impact on everyone’s life he touched. We had some great times in college and outside it studying hard, playing games, watching movies (on borrowed money !), playing pranks on Professors and generally enjoying student life and its challenges. I will forever cherish every moment of those days that I spent with Cassy
One can only wonder how God can snatch him early so cruelly but maybe God likes the company of good people like Rohit and he is perhaps in a better place now !
It was a privilege and honour to have known Rohit and I am thankful that I got to spend precious time with him. I pray that God give strength & fortitude to Roopa, Aarya, Kunal and family

Rohit was staying in adjacent room while we did our engineering together.. always joyful and sensitive towards friends.. his zest for best in life will always be remembered.. was shocked to hear the news and took a while to digest that our friend has left us.. I will pray for the departed soul and praying to God to keep us friends in my next life too.. Miss you Rohit..
Dear Roopa,
I hope you find strength in the love and support of those around you as you bear this immense grief. I fondly remember the kindness with which Rohit and you drove me to Banff for the day, in spite of pressing commitments.
Little Arya, though too young to fully understand, carries the legacy of her father, and I pray she grows surrounded by the memories and love of her family. She became fond of Pinky in such a short while, and Pinky is heartbroken too.
Dear Ratankaka, Revatikaki, and Rahul and family,
I was heartbroken to hear of your loss and cannot begin to imagine the pain you must be enduring. Please accept my deepest condolences during this profoundly difficult time; my sorrow cannot be expressed in words.
May you all find solace and healing in the days to come, and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you always.
With heartfelt compassion,
I will speak with you all in the coming days.

Rohit was a remarkable leader at our company, known for his patience and knowledge. I had the privilege of working closely with him on a project years ago, and his guidance was invaluable. Rohit always greeted me with a warm hello in and around the halls of work and through the plus fifteens of downtown. His smile will be deeply missed.
To Rohit’s family, please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. I hope you find some comfort in the cherished memories of such a wonderful person.
I had the distinct pleasure of working with Rohit at Ovintiv. In the last 25+ years I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve worked with with anyone who was smarter, more genuine, and made everyone around him better. Rohit, I am so glad our paths crossed. You will be missed. Rest easy my friend.
Rohit was first and foremost kind and caring. He was very knowledgeable and a resource for all of us at Ovintiv. He was a problem solver and someone that could be trusted to tackle tough issues with grace. He was a role model for anyone who knew him. I will miss Rohit and I know his impact on many of us and how he treated everyone will carry on for a long time! Rest in peace Rohit.
I had the great honor of working and getting to know Rohit for many years. He was inspiring in how he loved to learn new things and share his knowledge. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He had a kind and gentle way about him. He loved talking about his family and his face lit up when he did.
My heartfelt condolences to your family. I hope memories of Rohit will comfort you now and always.
I had the pleasure of working with Rohit for many years at Ovintiv through good times and bad times. Rohit had a passionate soul, was highly ambitious, and took pride of his accomplishments in work and personal life. I could see the love he had for his family…always great things to say. He was always quick-witted; I remember the last words to each other was “If I knew you were coming to the elevator, I would have hit the close button” and his response was “Had I known you were on the elevator, I would have run the other way”. Rohit, you will be sorely missed. It was great to have known and worked with you, my friend. Until we meet again, promise I won’t hit the close button on you.
Rohit’s quick wit and intelligence, constant smile and unwavering patience were so appreciated and will be remembered always and by so many – there are just no words… we miss you Rohit.
Dear Roopa, Arya and to all of Rohit’s family please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of a great man. I greatly respected Rohit’s knowledge and guidance over the years we worked together. What I will miss most is his kind nature, smile and our conversations and how his face lit up whenever he spoke of his beloved family. I’m going to miss you my friend, God bless you all in this difficult time and rest easy Rohit.
Dear Roopa, Aarya and Family ~ I had the honor of working with Rohit for many years at Encana/Ovintiv and he was deeply respected by all those who knew him. Rohit’s kind, caring and compassionate interactions will be missed by us all. His obituary picture is exactly how he walked into every room and a perfect reminder to always smile as he did. Rohit openly shared his love for his family and I wish you my deepest sympathy and hope that you will find solace in the memories you created together. Taken far too soon, rest in peace Rohit.
I had the honor of working with Rohit for many years at Ovintiv. Rohit was the mentor of all mentors. A brilliant leader, role model and friend who was always willing to share his knowledge. He loved to brainstorm, problem solve, and teach. Many meetings or office visits included Rohit making space on the whiteboard to brainstorm and seek the next solution. He was incredibly hard working, yet he made time for everyone and genuinely cared. His kind and gentle approach along with his positive attitude and contagious smile will forever be remembered. My deepest condolences to your family. Above all, Rohit was always smiling when he spoke of his family.
Rohit, you will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
I was very sad to hear of Rohit’s passing. He was such a kind and caring person and I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with him at Ovintiv. These wonderful comments from his friends and family are a testiment to the positive impact he made on so many lives. My sincere condolences to his family and all those friends that had the privilage of knowing him.
Roopa, Aarya and Family – I worked with Rohit at Ovintiv like so many others and wanted to pass along my deepest condolences to you on his passing. I’ve known Rohit for many years but only worked with him more closely over the last few and his balanced approach, kindness, and personable nature are things I have learned from and will always remember. He genuinely cared for others and I saw this so many times as we would walk to meetings whether on different floors or in different cities – Rohit knew almost everyone, never forgot a name and never missed a chance to direct a kind hello. He had a personal connection with so many of us and he will be missed. Rest in peace Rohit.
Although I only worked with Rohit a short time at Ovintiv, I will never forget him. He was always kind, shared his wisdom and had a keen ability to make you feel at ease no matter what challenge you were facing. My deepest condolences to his family and friends and all who were lucky enough to know him.
Very shaken and sad on Rohit dada’s passing. Have the fondest and fun memories of our childhood together. A fun loving, mischievous and playful older brother. Still remember him breakdancing and introducing me to the best pop music at that time. Always armed with a quick wit and a funny anecdote, he was very much loved by all. I pray for his soul to be at peace and for strength to Rupa and Arya. Om Shanti!
Having known Rohit for so many years, we can truly say that he was a remarkable and kind-hearted individual. He always carried himself with grace and humility, always exuding a sense of calm that comforted those around him. He always had a smile for you.
It’s hard to imagine he is no longer with us. He will be missed very much.
Our thoughts are with Roopa, Arya, and the rest of the family during this incredibly difficult time. We are sending you love and strength.
Almost all my childhood memorises of Rohit Dada are of him making all us cousins laugh! He always spread cheer, was surrounded by a bunch of friends who became part of the family when we were growing up and always had a twinkle in his eye. Utterly shocked and heart broken. May god give strength to Arya, Rupa, Kunal, Brinda and Tarini. Rest in peace Dada. Om Shanti.
It was an honor to work with Rohit at Ovintiv. Such a likeable soul, his kind and gentle demeanor just drew people toward him. He was respected because of his vast knowledge and intelligence but mostly because he was such a good person. My deepest condolences to Rohit’s family and friends. I am privileged to have known him.
Roopa and Arya, I mourn the loss of Rohit who was the most humble, devoted, husband and father that I have had the privilege of knowing. I have known Rohit for over 20 years, going back to when I hired him as a cost accountant. What impressed me most about Rohit was his exceptional interpersonal spirit, combined with a very positive attitude, which I feel contributed in his success. Within a very short period of time, Rohit excelled in completing his accounting designation and launched his successful career with Ovintiv (formerly Encana). Despite all of Rohit’s accomplishments, I feel that he was most proud of his family and especially becoming a father. Roopa, Arya and family, please accept my condolences on the loss of Rohit and my prayers are with you all! Rohit, you will be missed.
Our heartfelt condolences. Rohit will be deeply missed, and his passing has left a significant void in all of our lives. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the memories we shared with him. We are immensely grateful for his friendship, warmth, and the positive impact he had on all of us. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
I had the pleasure of working with Rohit at Encana. Early in my career I went to his office to ask him a question. Rather than simply answering it and having me go on my way, he brought me in and walked me through the answer in detail making sure to answer my further questions and ensuring I understood the reasoning behind the answer. I’ll never forget the generosity of his time and knowledge which he passed on that day and continued to pass on throughout our time together. He took great pride in seeing his team succeed both at work and in their personal lives. He kept us challenged and always had our backs. My sincere condolence to the Kasbekar and Bajekal families on the passing of Rohit. He had a twinkle in his eye and was most proud whenever he spoke about his family.
A Gentleman Through and Through
Rohit was, in every sense of the word, a gentleman. A great communicator, he had the rare ability to make everyone feel important, whether they were a superior, a subordinate, or a peer. He treated all with respect and kindness, capturing hearts wherever he went.
He remained calm in the midst of storms, ready to take on challenges and always willing to put his shoulder to the wheel to help his team reach their destination. Despite achieving career success that few first-generation immigrants can claim, Rohit was down-to-earth and unassuming – a trait that endeared him to all who knew him.
I first met Rohit roughly 22 years ago, when our paths crossed in Calgary. We worked together for three years, after which our careers took us in different directions. Despite the distance, Rohit took the initiative to stay connected. For the next two decades, while we were both immersed in demands of careers, he consistently reached out, ensuring our friendship endured. That speaks volumes about the kind of person he was – loyal, thoughtful, and genuinely committed to the people in his life.
The grief his loved ones feel now is unimaginable. While time may ease their pain, his absence will always be felt. Yet, I believe the presence of his personality – the kindness, the humor, and the love he shared – will continue to prevail over the silence of his absence.
Rohit, you left this world a better place than you found it, and for that, we are grateful. Rest in peace, brother. You will not fade from our minds, and your legacy will be carried forward.
“A gentleman walks with kindness,
His laughter a soothing balm,
He carries others’ burdens,
His heart steadfast and calm.
Though now his voice is silent,
His light will never fade,
In memories and love,
His legacy is made.
A friend, a father, a husband true,
His spirit lingers, strong and new.
For in his daughter’s eyes we’ll see,
The spark of his vitality.
Though taken from us all too soon,
His love remains, like sun and moon.
We cherish the gift of the time we shared,
And hold him close, for he deeply cared.”

Rohit was a thorough gentleman, always smiling, polite and helpful. During my time in Calgary, I was at their home a lot and he was always welcoming. The news of his untimely passing has come as a huge shock. I will always remember him fondly. My deepest condolences to Roopa, Aarya, Ratan Uncle and Revathy Aunty.
Rohit you will be deeply missed but know we will all meet again.
We have been fortunate to have the Bajekals and then the Khasbekar’s in our lives for the past 40+ years, meeting Rohit for the first time in Seeb when Roopa & Rohit were newly weds to our moves to Calgary & beyond. Rohit was the soft spoken, thoughtful and calm one while the rest of us nattered on. He was always genuine , helpful and so kind hearted. His mischievous laugh and warm smile will cherished by all who knew and loved him. Looking back I feel lucky to have caught up a year ago.
Our hearts go out to Roopa, Aarya, Aunty Revati and Uncle Rattan.
Lots of love
Uli, Ila, Isha, Maya & Prem

Rohit dada was the first born grandchild on our paternal side of the Kasbekar family. We grew up spending nearly every Diwali in Indore with all our cousins and we have the fondest memories from our childhood. Mine are even more special because dada came to Pune to get his bachelors degree, and we got to spend a lot of time together. He introduced me to ‘English’ music and I always loved listening to his music. He taught me the words to ‘Born in the USA’ and would laugh every time I imitated Bruce Springsteen. He bought me my first ever English music album, ‘ But Seriously’ by Phil Collin’s.
To dada’s family, Roopa and Arya, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Wrapping you both in the the warmest of hugs and prayers
Pray for his soul to get peace.
We all shall miss you and your million dollar smile.
May god give strength to the family to bear this loss.
We were profoundly saddened to recently hear of Rohit’s passing. We both had the enormous pleasure and privilege of working alongside him at Encana/Ovintiv for many years. He will be remembered for his calm and caring nature and the fondness he so proudly showed for his family. Rohit will always hold a special place in our hearts.
As I read through the condolences shared by many people above. I am struck how similar Rohit’ s impact has been on our lives. Words used ‘ gentleman’ ‘thoughtful’ ‘ always helpful’ and such aptly describe Rohit. We were together in College and he remained the sophisticated, thorough, conscientious gentleman’ throughout. He was kind enough to take out of towners under his wings in Indore and provide a semblance of home away from home. You will be missed Rohit. ॐ शांति।
