It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sarwan Singh Bassi at the age of 92. Sarwan passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family and wonderful caregivers at Newport Harbour Care Center. He is survived by his son Santokh Singh Bassi, daughters Balwinder Kaur, Charan Kaur, Parmjeet Kaur and Amarjit Kaur. He is also survived by two brothers, two sisters and 39 grandkids, great grandkids, great great grandkids and great great great grandchild. 

Sarwan Singh Bassi was born in Kokri Kalan, Panjab and then spent most of his life in Talwandi Mallian, Panjab where he was a part of the farming revolution. Once retired, Sarwan moved to Calgary, Canada where he spent much of his time doing seva (service to community) at the local Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) and caring for his family. He was a man of honour and strong will, with a big heart. Sarwan Singh Bassi will be greatly missed.

Funeral Ceremonies will be held at COUNTRY HILLS CREMATORIUM & FUNERAL SERVICES, 11995 16 Street NE on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 1:00 pm.

Due to the city by-law all those attending in person must provide personal identification as well as either proof of double vaccination, or proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within 72 hours of service, or documentation of a medical exemption. Masks are also mandatory.

PLEASE NOTE THAT PROOF OF VACCINATION MUST NOW BE PROVIDED WITH A QR CODE.
