Tharmalingam Velautham passed away on February 4, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Tharmalingam was born in Neelankulathal Karanavai North, Karaveddy, Sri Lanka on August 20, 1933. From 1957 to 1971 he worked at the University of Peradeniya in Dentistry in Sri Lanka. From 1974 onwards he lived in Calgary, Alberta Canada where he initially came on a dentistry scholarship, working until he retired. He will be remembered for being instrumental in reuniting the whole extended family to Canada. He will be dearly missed.
He was the beloved son of the late Velautham and Paruwathy. He will be remembered by Luximi (wife), his children Uthaiyanesan, Kumuthiny and Tharshiny Tharmalingam, along with his grandchildren Vinochan, Shashini and Sameena, and daughter in-law Rajeswary Uthaiyanesan. Brother to Amirthalingam (deceased), Sivalingam (deceased), Kanagammah Sinnathamby, Thanapackiawathy Kandasamy, Thavamanithevi Sivaprahasam. His over 30 nieces and nephews to whom he was affectionately known as Kandimama and Asiyah will remember him fondly. The countless people who knew him will all miss his many stories and personality.
Funeral Ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 at Country Hills Crematorium – 11995-16 Street, NE. Please follow all Government Covid-19 protocols. Due to COVID restrictions, capacity is limited to 20 people.
