Once you’ve chosen Country Hills Crematorium from the available funeral homes in Calgary, we will set up an appointment with you to go over the options and choices available to you. You can make as many decisions now as you feel comfortable with, but we will go over everything that will need to be decided and you can choose which options you want to preplan now.
As the preplanning process is happening, your Funeral Director will document each of your choices so the information can be reviewed and shared with your loved ones. You may even want to consider including your loved ones in the process of pre-planning. They will be the ones to participate in your final arrangements and honouring your life so it can be nice for them to have a voice in the decision making process.
You’ll start by providing all of the information required to fill out the necessary paperwork after your passing. Many families appreciate not having to contend with paperwork during the emotional time after their loved one has died so just this step alone is very helpful!
Then we’ll discuss your preferred disposition – burial or cremation – because it will determine many of the next steps. If you choose burial, your Funeral Director will help you to choose a burial plot, casket and make any other decisions regarding the requirements for burial.
In either case, your Funeral Director will then discuss if you would like to have a viewing prior to cremation or burial, what type of funeral or celebration of life service you would like and if you’ll need help planning a funeral reception. With both cremation and burial, you may have a viewing prior to disposition. Your family is also welcome to observe any religious rites or cultural observances in our facilities.
If you choose to have a funeral or celebration of life service, our Funeral Services team will help to make the arrangements. This can be in one of our modern facilities or offsite at a place of worship or another important place to you. Either way, we can help to ensure your final wishes are carried out how you (and your family) have planned.
All of your wishes are documented to be shared with your family in the event of your passing. If you choose, you may also prepay for your arrangements.
